Scott Allen - Founder / On Ice Director

Scott Allen is the current Assistant Coach for the Washington Capitals in the NHL. In his accomplished career, Allen has been behind the bench for over 1,900 games at the NHL, AHL, and ECHL levels.

The New Bedford, Massachusetts native brings more than 25 years of professional coaching experience, which includes assistant positions with the New York Islanders (2009-12), the Florida Panthers (2016-17) and the Arizona Coyotes (2017-19). With Arizona, Allen worked with the Coyotes' defensemen and penalty kill. During the 2018-19 season, Arizona ranked tied for first in the NHL in penalty kill percentage (85.0) and tied for fifth in goals against per game (2.68). In Allen's one season with Florida, the Panthers finished with the second-best penalty kill percentage in the NHL (85.3).

Allen has coached in the AHL for 14 seasons, serving as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Rampage (2002-04, 2014-15), the Lowell Lock Monsters/Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights (2004-07), the Quad City Flames (2007-09), the Peoria Rivermen (2012-13), the Chicago Wolves (2013-14) the Portland Pirates (2015-16) and the Hershey Bears (2019-21). Allen has additionally served as an head coach for four seasons, including with San Antonio in 2002-03 and 2003-04, the Portland in 2015-16, and the Hershey Bears in 2021-22

In addition to his NHL and AHL coaching experience, Allen has worked in the ECHL as an assistant and head coach, beginning as an assistant in 1996 with the Johnstown Chiefs. Allen was named Johnstown's head coach in 1997 and went on to guide the Chiefs to three straight Kelly Cup Playoff appearances from 1999-00 to 2001-02, reaching the American Conference Championship twice.

Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Allen played professionally for 10 seasons in the All-American Hockey League, Atlantic Coast Hockey League, Colonial Hockey League, Central Hockey League and ECHL. Allen, a forward, won back-to-back Kelly Cups with the Carolina Thunderbirds in 1989 and the Greensboro Monarchs in 1990.


Garrett Allen - Co- Founder/ Director of Operations

Garrett Allen is the current Director of Player Personnel for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders in the USHL, which is the number one junior hockey league in the United States. Prior to this role, he was the Director of Scouting for Cedar Rapids. He also was an Assistant Coach for Milton Academy Boys Ice Hockey in the ISL Keller Division from 2021-2024. This league is considered by college recruiters as the top prep school league in the country.

The Dartmouth, MA native spent his college career playing NCAA hockey at The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth from 2012-2016. After school he continued his career moving to Sweden where he played professionally for Ludvika HF at the Swedish Division 2 level (2016-2017).

While playing he spent his summers training for the upcoming season, and as a skill development coach. In total Garrett has been doing on ice development for 10+ years.

He brings a true passion to the sport, whether it is coaching behind the bench or skill development on the ice.


Kayla Friesen - Female Director

Kayla Friesen is a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba. In her well established hockey career she has reached the pinnacle of women's hockey, competing at the highest levels. She proudly represented Team Canada at the World Junior Championships during the 2015-16 season. She continued her hockey journey in the United States, playing college hockey at NCAA Division 1 St. Cloud State University from 2016 to 2019. Her leadership qualities shone through as she captained the team during her junior year, leaving her mark on the program. In the 2019-20 season, Kayla transferred to Clarkson University, continuing to excel at the NCAA Division 1 level. 

In 2020, Kayla's dreams of playing professional hockey came true when she was selected as the #2 overall pick in the first round of the NWHL draft by the Connecticut Whale. She played for the Whale during the 2020-21 season, before joining the Boston Pride in 2021. She played with the Pride from 2021 to 2023 winning the prestigious Isobel Cup during this time. 

Transitioning from player to coach, she joined the NCAA UMass Boston women's team as an Assistant Coach for the 2021-22 season. She is currently the Assistant Coach for the North American Hockey Academy u19 women’s team. She began working in skill development while she was playing her final seasons with the Boston Pride. She worked with Elev802, and the Lady Whalers as a player development coach. She has in total, been coaching and working in skill development for 5 years.


Koryd Lavimoniere - Athletic Trainer/ Strength Coach /Nutrition

Koryd Lavimoniere is the current Head Athletic Trainer for the Springfield Thunderbirds (AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues). The Dartmouth, MA native received his bachelors degree in athletic training from Westfield State University. He then went on to complete his masters degree in exercise science and nutrition from Sacred Heart University. While at Sacred Heart he worked as the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer, and Strength and Conditioning intern. From here he began his professional career working with the Louisiana Ice Gators in the SPHL for one season (15-16), followed by 2 seasons with Norfolk Admirals in the ECHL (16-18). He was hired by the the St. Louis Blues in the summer of 2018, and presently works as the Head Athletic trainer for their American League affiliate Springfield Thunderbirds. Koryd is a certified licensed athletic trainer and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. He specializes in rehab and injury prevention, as well as strength, conditioning and nutrition for hockey players.

Mike Sones - On Ice Instructor

Mike Sones is the current coach at UMass Dartmouth's NCAA Division III hockey program. He brings a wealth of experience and passion for the game to his role. With over a decade dedicated to on-ice skill development, Sones is committed to honing the talents of his players and fostering a culture of excellence within the team.

Sones' journey in hockey began during his college years, where he played for both Curry College and UMass Dartmouth. These formative experiences as a player undoubtedly inform his coaching style, as he understands firsthand the challenges and rewards of collegiate-level hockey.

With over a decade dedicated to on-ice skill development, Sones is committed to honing the talents of his players and fostering a culture of excellence. Throughout his coaching career, Sones has demonstrated a knack for developing players both technically and mentally. He emphasizes not only skill acquisition but also character-building, instilling in his athletes the values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.
